This town was built on a granite batholiths. Its history is its best heritage. Different civilizations have been witness of its evolution. It was under Arab rule for five centuries when the castle and the town walls were built. This Moorish period finished in 1232 when it was conquered by the Christian troops.

Trujillo has preserved with zeal its medieval quarters where a good number of palaces and manor houses as well as its marvellous main square were built.
